One of the simplest and most effective ways to connect with God is by reciting shlokas, stotras, and mantras with devotion. In Hinduism, people worship many gods and goddesses. Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva are the three most important deities in Hinduism, also known as Tridev. Brahma ji is known as the creator of the universe, Vishnu ji as the operator of the universe, and Shiva ji as the destroyer. There is special importance in worshiping Lord Vishnu who is the controller of the universe. Lord Vishnu has been described as the protector of the world. Lord Vishnu is responsible for the upkeep of the world among the three deities Brahma, Vishnu, and Mahesh in the universe, so one should worship Vishnu to fulfill materialistic desires. It is believed that by worshiping Vishnu, a person gets fame and Lakshmi, as well as a person takes care of himself and his family with joy. Sahastra means thousand, Vishnu Sahastranam worships Lord Vishnu through 1000 names of Lord Vishnu which frees a person from various faults and sins. Vishnu Sahasranama is an ancient hymn written in Sanskrit. Vishnu Sahasranama is a work of Sanskrit scholar Rishi Ved Vyasa, Vishnu Sahasranama is a part of the epic Mahabharata.
Andhra Association, Raipur organized a five-day program from 17 to 21 December 2022 at Balaji Temple located in Tilak Nagar, Gudhiyari, Raipur, capital of Chhattisgarh, under which Vishnu Sahastranam recitation was recited. Vishnu Sahastranam was recited by religious men and women during the program. People from other cities of the state also participated in the program including the capital Raipur.
Such a program of Vishnu Sahastranam recitation was organized for the first time in the whole of India. Andhra Association, Raipur sent an application to the Golden Book of World Records to set a world record for such a large number of chants, in which they informed that the number of Vishnu’s names are to be recited in the program in the number of 5 crores. All the figures were verified by the team of Golden Book of World Records, after inspecting the program by the Asia Head of Golden Book of World Records, Dr. Manish Vishnoei, who was present on the spot, officially announced the world record by giving the certificate to Raipur Andhra Association with the title of World Record “Largest Feat of Reciting Names of Lord Vishnu”, and also told that “A feat that is first time in the world, amazing or in large numbers such achievements is recorded as a world record in GBWR. There was a lot of enthusiasm and devotion among men and women of Telugu society along with Andhra Association regarding this event and world record.
Giving more details of the program, Joint Secretary of Andhra Association Raipur Mr. Y C Rao said that “With the goodwill of public welfare and human welfare, this 5-day ritual was organized, in which about 500 women and men participated daily. Devotees from the capital Raipur, as well as Bhilai, Bilaspur, and other places of the country like Visakhapatnam, also registered their presence at the event. Lord Vishnu Sahastranam’s recitation was chanted by the devotees from 8 am to 8 pm. By reciting the name of Lord Vishnu more than 5 crore times through Vishnu Sahastranam recitation during the program, Andhra Association’s name was inscribed in golden letters in the Golden Book of World Records with the title “Largest Feat of Reciting Names of Lord Vishnu”.
Sharing the information, Mr. KS Acharyulu of the organization said that “The 5-day program was started on December 17, 2022, with Kalash Yatra and after that, Vishnu Sahastranam recitation was started. In which devotees from all over the state participated in the recitation of Vishnu Sahastranam with full energy, devotion, and devotion”.
During the program, a 5-day silent fast was observed by Mr. G. Swami, President of Andhra Association, Raipur. The program concluded on Wednesday, December 21, 2022, with more than 5 crore recitations of Lord Vishnu’s name being completed smoothly and also setting a world record by registering in the Golden Book of World Records with the title “Largest Feat of Reciting Names of Lord Vishnu”. Mr. T. Srinivasan Reddy, Mr. P. Bhaskar Patnaik, Mr. BVS Rajkumar, Mr. KJR Krishna Patnaik, Mr. Ramesh Patnaik, Mr. Babaji, Srinivasa Rao, Vijay Kumar and other members of the organization expressed happiness over the smooth completion of the program and inclusion in the world record.
