Soak pit is a land structure that is built to collect rainwater or wastewater and soak it in the ground. It helps in recharging groundwater and preventing waterlogging. Recently, a similar work was done under the “Catch The Rain” campaign of the Ministry of Water, soak pits were built in Korea district of Chhattisgarh. These pits built at different places emerged as a world record. Which has been recorded in the Golden Book of World Records.

On 29 May 2025, soak pits were built at various places in Korea district of Chhattisgarh under the “Catch The Rain” campaign on the instructions of the District Collector. The record number of soak pits constructed were entered in the Golden Book of World Records with the title of “Most Rainwater Harvesting Structures Contracted”. This historic campaign was completed under the direction and supervision of Ms. Chandan Sanjay Tripathi,(collector of Koriya district). To verify the record, the team of Golden Book of World Records was present at the event and confirmed the record. Ms. Sonal Rajesh Shrma (Chhattisgarh Head, GBWR) presented the certificate of record to Ms. Chandan Sanjay Tripathi.
