Under the aegis of Mahaveer Intercontinental Service Organization (MISO), New Delhi & Raipur, a five-day Skill Development Training Camp for Visually Impaired Children (25th to 29th July 2025) was organized by the Indore Chapter, creating a new milestone in history.
The camp witnessed the participation of 600 visually impaired children, 150 teachers, 50 trainers, and 150 volunteers, while nearly 200 observers joined daily. This unique camp was successfully conducted at Hotel H.R. Green, Kumedi, Indore.
The Golden Book of World Records officially recognized this grand initiative as a World Record for “Most Skilled Trades Trained to Visually Impaired People.” Dr. Manish Vishnoei (Asia Head, Golden Book of World Records) congratulated the Indore unit of MISO and announced that the camp has been officially recognized as a World Wecord by the GBWR. Mentored by Mr. Lokesh Kavadiya, the camp not only became a milestone in empowering visually impaired children toward self-reliance but also conveyed the message that with courage and the right guidance, differently-abled individuals too can become leading contributors to society. This initiative of MISO will certainly stand as a model of empowerment in the times ahead.
The camp trained children in Forty One (41) different trades aimed at making them self-dependent. Major skills included: making herbal soaps, phenyl, dishwash, handwash, facewash, shampoo, spices, pickles, candle making, incense cups from cow dung, chocolates, cloth & jute bags, bottle art, clay art, terracotta, resin art, wool & kashi grass products, and many more.
Former MP and International President of MISO, Mr. Pushp Jain said that the training program for visually impaired children has been designed in line with modern and innovative science so that they can establish themselves in society with self-reliance and move ahead in this competitive era.
Program mentor and chairman of the Disabled Finance Commission, Raipur, Mr. Lokesh Kavadiya imparted lessons on punctuality, basic principles of business, and marketing strategies. Dr. Ghanshyam Das Singhal (Madhya Pradesh Association for the Blind) highlighted the use of technologies such as digital braille machines, talk-back, and JAWS, stating that differently-abled individuals can now stand at par with normal children and should not restrict themselves to government jobs but also advance in self-employment. He emphasized that the fusion of science and vision can enable them to build their future.
On this occasion, trainers also explained the benefits of computer programming and digital skills. Mr. Arun Kumar Jain informed that this was the 24th camp of MISO, an organization that has so far empowered over 15,000 differently-abled individuals and more than 27,000 underprivileged women towards self-reliance In the present camp, 41 types of products were successfully prepared by the visually impaired participants.
On the occasion of setting World Record by MISO, Mr. Hullas Betala (President, MISO Indore Chapter) congratulated all the guests and participants. Along with him, Mr. Vipul Betala, Mr. Prakash Bhatewara, Mr. Jineshwar Jain, Mr. Piyush Jain, Mr. Surendra Dakhala, Mr. Hansmukh Gandhi, Mr. Ajay Jain and members of Jain Social Group Lotus expressed joy on this historic achievement.
