The festival of Navratri is one of the greatest symbols of devotion and reverence towards Shakti (the divine feminine power). Over these nine days, devotees worship the different forms of Goddess Durga and seek her blessings. A special significance is attached to Kanya Pujan (worship of young girls) during Navratri. According to belief, little girls are considered the embodiment of the Goddess herself, and by washing their feet, offering food, and presenting gifts, families are blessed with happiness, prosperity, and strength. This tradition also conveys an enduring message across generations about honoring women and recognizing their importance in society.

Carrying this tradition to an extraordinary scale, under the guidance of MLA Mr. Anil Jain Kaluheda, the Lokmanya Tilak Ganesh Utsav Mahaayojan Samiti, Ujjain created history. On the sixth day of Navratri, 28th September 2025, Kanya Pujan of nearly 25,000 girls was organized across more than 121 locations in Ujjain city. The team from the Golden Book of World Records (GBWR), in the presence of Dr. Manish Vishnoei inspected the event and officially declared it a world record. A provisional certificate was presented to Mr. Kaluheda in the presence of Dr. Mohan Yadav, Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh.

On this occasion, Dr. Manish Vishnoei, Asia Head of GBWR, stated:
“Ujjain has not only created a world record today but has also showcased India’s unique culture, devotion, and tradition of honoring women on a global platform. This event reflects that in Sanatan Dharma and Indian society, the worship of feminine power is not merely a religious act but an inseparable part of life and culture. This record will play a significant role in introducing Indian culture to the world.”

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav himself performed Kanya Pujan at the event. He remarked:
“Ujjain has given a message to the entire world today that respect for women power is supreme here. Through Kanya Pujan, we have shown that the true strength of society lies in women. This world record is not just an achievement of Ujjain or Madhya Pradesh but a symbol of the faith and pride of the entire nation. Future generations will remember this moment with pride.”

The event saw the participation of numerous public representatives and dignitaries, including MLA Mr. Anil Jain Kaluheda, Mr. Umeshnath Maharaj, Mr. Mukesh Tatwal, Mrs. Kalavati Yadav, Mr. Sanjay Agrawal, Mr. Rajendra Bharti, Mr. Shantilal Jain, Mr. Mahesh Pariyani, Mr. Ramvilas Gupta, Mr. Rajesh Maheshwari, Mr. Umesh Sengar, Mr. Jagdish Panchal, along with many social workers and business leaders. All expressed joy over this historic achievement, stating that the event not only enhances Ujjain’s spiritual identity but also elevates India’s cultural heritage to new heights globally.

This world record stands as a living example of Ujjain’s faith, tradition, and social unity. On the sacred occasion of Navratri, this moment has become one of pride and an unforgettable milestone for the whole of India.
