Mahaveer Intercontinental Service Organization organized a five-day workshop for the skill development of blind children, in which about six hundred children from all over the country came to participate. In this workshop, which started on 28 April, different types of skill development training were organized to employ blind children. In this program organized for visually challenged children, they were taught various employment-oriented methods. From making bandanwar to making soap, phenyl, earthen utensils, and puja wicks, training was given.
This skill development program organized for the maximum number of visually impaired children has got a place in the Golden Book of World Records for this specialty. After continuous three days of observation, Dr. Manish Vishnoei, Asia Head, Golden Book of World Records officially announced this world record by presenting a provisional certificate with the title ‘Largest skill development workshop for visually impaired people’ to Mr. Pushp Jain, International President of Mahaveer Intercontinental Service Organization and Mr. Lokesh Kavadia, Program Coordinator.
Giving information about the program, Mr. Lokesh Kavadia, International General Secretary and Program Coordinator of Mahavir Intercontinental Service Organization, said that under the joint aegis of Mahavir Intercontinental Service Organization and Anam Prem, Mumbai, a skill development program was organized for about 600 blind children (age 12 to 25 years) in Raipur Chhattisgarh, in which all the children were provided accommodation, food, tea, milk, snacks from the station. The entire arrangement of bringing and dropping was done by Mahavir Intercontinental Service Organization Raipur. The entire workshop was held at the air-conditioned building convention center, Atal Nagar, Naya Raipur. This program was very challenging because children are very sensitive and they have to be taken special care of. Along with skill development, special games like chess, martial arts, cricket, etc. were organized for visually challenged children. In a special cricket match for visually impaired children, a day-night match was organized between the teams of Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh, in which national-level women and men players took part. To encourage children in this program, the Chhattisgarh Government’s Minister of Women and Child Development and Social Welfare Mrs. Anila Bhediya Ji registered her presence. The residents of Raipur also enjoyed this special cricket match very much.
During the program, Dr. Kavadia distributed free medicines while examining and consulting skin care for visually impaired children. The children also presented different types of programs showing their talent, in which singing, musical instruments, dance, drama, etc. were prominent.
On the morning of 1st May, tree plantation was done by all the visually impaired children on the convention center premises. Unique in itself and for the first time in the world, this special plantation was included in the Golden Book of World Records with the title “Most saplings planted simultaneously by visually impaired people”. Navneet Jha ji, Sanjay Jain ji, Motilal Oswal ji, Ashok Jain ji, Jayant Bhai Tank ji, along with all the office bearers of the organization expressed happiness and congratulated on the occasion of making a world record during the program.
