Soakpit is a land structure that is built to prevent rainwater and wastewater from collecting. It helps in water conservation by recharging groundwater. Kabirdham district of Chhattisgarh has also done something similar in the field of water conservation. Two world records have been set in a single day by making soakpits for rainwater conservation in Kabirdham district. This campaign has been run under the ‘Catch The Rain’ scheme. These world records of Kabirdham district have been recorded in the Golden Book of World Records.

An initiative for water conservation was started on 20 June 2025 in Kabirdham district of Chhattisgarh. Under which two record has been made, first of making thousands of soakpits in 12 hours at various places in the district and second, taking an oath from about 1 lakh people for water conservation. Two world records have been registered in the name of the District Administration of Kabirdham district in the Golden Book of World Records with the titles “Most Soak Pits Dug For Rainwater Harvesting In 12 Hours” and “Most People Pledged For Water Conservation” respectively. This water conservation initiative has been headed by Kabirdham Collector Mr. Gopal Varma (District Collector, Kabirdham). On this occasion, Asia Head of Golden Book of World Records Dr. Manish Vishnoei (Asia Head, GBWR) was present. He presented the certificate of world record to Collector Gopal Varma.
