Even today, there are many villages and cities in our country that do not promote modern thinking, where girls are forbidden to study or go out. Today’s story is of a woman from one such village, who has crossed the difficulties of family and society and has made her name on the world stage today. This is the story of Mrs. Kanta Devi Hudda, who has got her name registered in the Golden Book of World Record in golden letters. This story is her journey from childhood to making a world record, let’s know her story in detail –

Mrs. Kanta Devi is a resident of Hisar, Haryana. She is currently 56 years old. She has been mediocre in studies since childhood. At that time, due to the huge difference between boys and girls, girls were not allowed to go out of the village and do something, yet she had the passion to do something and she did not give up. Her father was in BSF. Somehow she convinced him and took NCC in college due to which she got a chance to go out many times, but she wanted to go to Delhi, which she had not got a chance till now. Meanwhile, Kanta Devi also donated blood a few times, out of which once an officer posted a photo taken at the time of blood donation along with a thank you letter at home, seeing which the family members got angry, due to which she was beaten and scolded a lot by her uncle, but even after this she did not give up.

In 1992, she was selected for the Republic Day parade which was in Delhi, she was the only girl from the whole of Haryana who was selected by NSS. She could not get selected even after trying from NCC. At that time Kanta Devi was in BA 3rd year. She had a passion to participate in the Delhi Republic Day parade, which she had got a chance to do now. Kanta Devi stayed in Delhi for a month and got to learn a lot there.

When she came back home from Delhi, no one paid any attention to her medals or certificates and neither did anyone appreciate her. Among the family members, only her mother believed in her and motivated her to move ahead. She got a lot of support from her siblings too. She was appreciated in the university, college and newspapers, news of which she got from the college. She also did MA and B.Ed., but she got married in 1995 and her in-laws strictly refused her to work. At the same time, her mother-in-law started falling ill. With time, she also got busy with household chores. She also has two sons. After some time, she started having back pain, for which she started taking medicines, but When she had an accident at that time and started having bloody diarrhea, her medicines were stopped. In this way, 15-16 years passed.

Now in her in-laws’ house, her husband started giving up on her completely and said – if you could not do a job, can you still do a lot. Do whatever you want so that your future time passes well. Meanwhile, she met Ms. Sarala Vishnoi who told her that Patanjali camp was being held in Hisar. She went there and from there she started visiting committees and from here her new life started. Now she decided to cure her back pain through yoga, for which she went to a 25-day camp. She could not learn yoga completely there but there she met Patanjali’s young yoga in-charge Guru Mr. Anil Paanu. Everyone told that he teaches good yoga, so she became Anil Panu’s student and learnt yoga continuously for 8 months. With the help of yoga, her back pain was also cured.

Kanta Devi was the eldest student of Guru Anil Panu who advised her to bend iron rods. Then she made it her goal and worked hard along with her guru. She bent a 9 mm iron rod in the first attempt itself but she did not stop there, rather worked harder and broke her own record. This time she got her name registered in the “Golden Book of World Records” by bending a 12 mm iron rod with the help of her neck.

After making the world record she said – I am very happy, I can do a lot more. I have been engaged in this work for 12 years now. I try to promote Haryanvi culture. Many women have benefited from yoga, I give them a platform, motivation and help them to move forward.

She also said something for the society: – Parents should not underestimate their daughters, rather support them, encourage them. Do not entangle them only in household affairs. Give them a chance to live in independent India. She said – A son carries on your lineage but a daughter also carries on someone’s lineage, give them positive energy, give them recognition. Do not discriminate between boys and girls.
