Mahashivratri is a religious festival of Hindus, the festival of Mahashivratri is celebrated on the Chaturdashi of Krishna Paksha in the month of Phalgun. On this special day, devotees who have faith in Lord Shiva observe fasts and especially worship Lord Shiva. Among the Tridevas, Brahma Dev is the creator of the universe, while Shri Hari is the protector and Lord Shiva is considered as the destroyer. There are many beliefs related to Lord Shiva regarding Mahashivratri. It is believed that on this special day, Lord Shiva was incarnated in the form of Rudra at midnight. Apart from this, the most popular belief is that Lord Shiva and Mother Parvati were married on this holy date. According to the mythological story, when Lord Shiva reached Mother Parvati’s place with a wedding procession, the Ganas, ghosts, demons, monsters, gods etc. of the entire world were included as baraatis with him and Lord Shiva adorned himself with ashes.
On this special occasion of Mahashivratri, a grand procession and Shobha Yatra of Lord Shiv Ji was taken out by Bol Bam Seva and Welfare Committee in Bhilai, Chhattisgarh. Thousands of Shiva devotees participated in the procession of Lord Shiv Ji by disguising themselves as ghosts and demons. This Shobha Yatra, organized under the guidance and leadership of Mr. Daya Singh Ji, President of Bol Bam Seva and Welfare Committee, was registered as a world record in the Golden Book of World Records with the title of “Most People Dressed as Shivgan”. The certificate of the world record was presented to Mr. Daya Singh Ji by Dr. Manish Vishnoei, Asia Head GBWR, in the presence of former Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh Dr. Raman Singh Ji and Bollywood actress Rimi Sen Ji. With the announcement of the world record, the people present in the Shobha Yatra were overjoyed. Former Chief Minister Dr. Raman Singh Ji also congratulated Bol Bam Seva and the Welfare Committee for this achievement and said that today the name of Bhilai has become famous all over the world. This is a matter of pride not only for Bhilai but for the entire state of Chhattisgarh”.
People were very eager to see Pagla Baba from Haryana in this grand procession taken out on the occasion of Mahashivratri. In Haryana, Malang Baba is famous as ‘Pagla Baba’. He appeared in the form of Aghori Shiva and a large number of ghosts and ghouls were seen with him. Pagla Baba in the form of Aghori Shiva presented the spectacle of Shiva Tandava. This is the 15th year of Baba’s procession organized by Bolbam Seva and Welfare Committee. This year 151 tableaux were the center of attraction in the procession. Devotees not only from Bhilai city but also from nearby districts and other states participated in the procession. During this grand procession, many prominent leaders and public representatives including State President of Bharatiya Janata Party and MP Arun Sao ji, MP Saroj Pandey ji, former Leader of Opposition Shri Dharmalal Kaushik ji were present at the venue.
