Dance is a medium through which people express their thoughts and feelings. Dancing is not just entertainment but also good for your health. It helps in keeping your body fit and strong. Indian culture and religion have been associated with this dance since the beginning. Folk dances performed in the Indian state of Maharashtra represent a unique cultural experience. Different regions of Maharashtra have different folk dances that reflect their local cultural diversity like the Tamasha of Kolhapur, Lavani of Pune, Phugdi of Konkan, Koli, Jogwa, Gondhal, etc., famous for their special styles and traditions. These dance performances take the audience on a unique cultural journey where music, dance, and art unite uniquely.

“Dondaicha Jogwa Festival” was organized by Shri Vikas Shravan Batunge of Nataraj Dance Studio in Dondaicha, Maharashtra. Organized by Mr. Vikas Batunge popularly known as Vicky Sir, the festival featured around 1000 women performing Maharashtrian folk dances like Lavani, Gondal and Jogwa. This amazing dance performance by women has been registered as a world record with the title “Most People Performing Maharashtrian Traditional Dance” in the Golden Book of World Records, an international organization. Golden Book of World Records Asia Head Dr. Manish Vishnoei who was specially present at the event presented the Certificate of World Record to Mr. Vikas Shravan Batunge and his team of Nataraj Dance Studio in front of the guests present at the event. The Maharashtrian folk dances Lavani, Gondal and Jogwa were performed non-stop for 25 minutes by 1000 women.

Nataraj Dance Studio and women started this study a year ago to dance in this event. This 25-minute folk dance performance, prepared with a year’s worth of hard work, enthralled the guests and audience present at the event. The “Dondaicha Jogwa Mahotsav” program organized at Dondaicha was inaugurated by Mrs. Vaishali Sonwane of Bank of Baroda, Dondaicha. The program was presided over by Mr. Sandiya Subhash Wagh, founder of the Subhash Foundation. State President of Maharashtra Teachers Association Mrs. Shubhangi Patil, Founder and President of Samni Sevabhavi Sanstha Mrs. Mrinalini Bagal, Film actress Mrs. Kiran K. Rao and Mrs. Sandesha Patil were present as special guests. To make this program successful, Mrs. Pooja Khadse, Mrs Monika Manik, Dr. Ashwini Bhamre, Mrs. Monica Toravane, Mrs. Vandana Thackeray, Mrs. Asha Patil, Mrs. Jayashree Chitte, Mrs. Manjusha Sadarao, Mrs. Madhavi Chavan, Mrs. Reena Nikumbhe, Mrs. Suvarna Sonawane, Mrs. Nisha Batunge, Smt. Shivani Batunge, Mrs. Aruna Malke, Mrs. Yogita Indrekar, Mr. Jaikishan Batunge, Mr. Pritesh Gagade, Mr. Mahesh Indrekar, Mr. Ganesh Indrekar, Mr. Sagar Valhe, Mr. Siddharth Nagarle, were very helpful.
