With time, the importance of private vehicles has increased a lot for the convenience of movement and transportation. Due to this, the number of vehicles on the roads is increasing day by day. To protect people from accidents and accidents on the roads, the government makes and implements some special rules and laws which are called traffic rules. These traffic rules are an important part of road safety. These rules have been made keeping in mind the safety of people and vehicles on the road. Despite these rules made for road safety, people often lose their lives by becoming victims of road accidents. The main reason behind these accidents is the carelessness of people and not following the traffic rules properly. To save people from these accidents and make them aware of traffic rules, camps and workshops are organized from time to time by the police and administration.
A unique method was adopted to spread awareness about traffic rules in Raigarh district of Chhattisgarh. Under the guidance of District Superintendent of Police Mr. Rajesh Agrawal (S.P. Raigarh), the police administration organized workshops in schools across the district. More than 70,000 students were educated and made aware of traffic rules through these workshops organized in 205 schools across the district. A world record was set by the Raigarh Police Department by organizing workshops to educate and make people aware of traffic rules at the maximum number of places at one time. This was recorded as a world record with the title of “Largest Session on Traffic Education and Awareness” in the Golden Book of World Records.
In the workshops organized in Raigarh district to spread awareness about traffic rules, along with providing information about traffic rules, the students were also made to take a pledge to motivate their family members to use helmets and seat belts while driving. During this workshop, children were informed about the importance of traffic rules and the consequences of not following them. The statistics of deaths occurring in daily accidents due to negligence in traffic rules were also shared with the students. Influenced by these statistics, the students also took an oath to always follow traffic rules.
