Be it the dangerous jungle areas of Assam and Chhattisgarh, miles of desert in Rajasthan or the terror-affected areas of Jammu and Kashmir, you will find a 50-year-old young man riding a bicycle with his slow gait. We are talking about the world-famous Aditya Kumar, a resident of the Farrukhabad district of Uttar Pradesh, named Cycle Guru. Aditya Kumar left home and set out on this path in 1995 to equip the children of slum dwellers, beggars, and victims of many dangerous drugs to lead a better life by equipping them with the weapon of education. Not a penny in your pocket, no place to live, no confidence for your morsel, yet your car started moving. A bicycle is your complete asset, that too because you have to reach your destination by roaming around with its support. Taking forward this spirit, you set out on a journey to make India literate from January 12, 2015. He used to travel about 100 kilometres daily with his bicycle, roaming around on the way and teaching children, on the road, in slum huts. In this Mahayagya, falling ill, longing for food, clothes getting tattered, and slippers getting worn out, but still, the journey cannot stop. To arrange money, to satisfy hunger, till the time he worked as a labourer, then he would go on his campaign. In the beginning, people only looked at him with curious eyes, but gradually you started making an impact on people’s minds. Slowly people started understanding your penance. Your Mahayagya started reaching higher levels as well and the day also started coming when your works were being honored. On the one hand, you started the Mahayagya of education by roaming in every corner of the country, and on the other hand, you were seen as a true guru with appreciative eyes and you were honoured with various awards. Your deep penance was also recorded in the world-famous Golden Book of World Records. In this way, 25 world records have been registered in the name of Mr Aditya, who has visited 22 states. Due to the light of the late Aditya Kumar ji, the children who used to live on the road, used to live in slums, used to beg, today many youths are posted on high positions after earning success. And getting the significance of your struggle recorded in golden letters. Aditya ji has been specially invited and honoured in the Lok Sabha in the year 2018 to study Mathematics. Taking a pledge to eradicate illiteracy from this land of India, today a Mahatma is walking alone on this path.
