Blood donation is also called Mahadaan because the blood donated by us can save the lives of many people. Blood donation is a suitable medium of social service that promotes social collectivism and empathy. It can be an example that we are part of a civilized and prosperous society that is ready to help other people. Donating blood produces new blood in the body, which also proves beneficial for the blood donor. It improves heart health, controls blood pressure and provides benefits for other health related problems. Blood donation not only helps in maintaining the physical health of the donor but also creates an excellent feeling in his soul. Donating blood is a simple process that can be done by any person. The most common way to contribute is by going to a local blood bank or blood donation camp.

Blood donation camps were organized across the country to mark the completion of 100 years of the Red Cross Society, established to protect human life. A unique blood donation camp was organized in Bhopal, the capital of Madhya Pradesh, under the leadership of Mr. Ashutosh Purohit, Chairman of the Red Cross Society Madhya Pradesh branch, under which blood donors donated blood continuously for 24 hours.
