We often see poor, destitute and helpless people near railway stations, bus stands, outside temples, etc. seeing which a feeling of compassion and helping them arises in the minds of most of the people. But sometimes we satisfy our feelings by giving some money and leaving them in the same condition, we again get engrossed in our world. But Mr Sudhir Bhai Goyal ji is the person who thought much ahead of this and created a beautiful world for such poor and destitute people, which is today known as Sevdham.
The story of Shri Sudhir Bhai Goyal ji’s service practice and construction of Seva Dham is very inspiring. Mr Satyanarayan Goel, a resident of Indore, used to live with his wife Mrs Satyavati Devi. In the initial days, you did many good works and started being counted among the prosperous people of Indore while struggling. Born in the year 1957 in the house of Satyanarayan Goyal, Shri Sudhir Bhai Goyal ji’s heart was full of human sympathy since childhood and he was very happy to serve someone. Because the family’s financial condition was very strong, as a result, in the initial days, Shri Sudhir Bhai Goyal ji used to live very lavishly. Even though you lived a luxurious life, your mind was always eager to serve. Imbued with this spirit, at the age of just 12, Mr. Sudhir Bhai Goyal opened a school in a village named Ajnauti and after some time established the Child Development Committee. Money-earning was not the aim, so teachers often had to face difficulties while paying salaries. Sometimes he used to pay their salary by stealing his father’s money, once his father came to know about stealing money, he was very sad but when he came to know the reason for this theft, he became happy. And he started giving money to Sudhir Bhai for this noble cause, so that you get the spiritual satisfaction that if the work is good, then help comes from somewhere.
Gradually, Mr Sudhir Bhai started expanding his work, working for the welfare of tribals, and started many works for environmental protection. In this series, you established the Senior Citizen Forum in 1986, whose first president was the well-known poet Shriyut Shivmangal Singh Suman ji. Later on, many famous personalities got associated with this commendable work of yours. The current president of this organization is eminent scholar Dr Ved Pratap Vaidik.
Being a master of sharp intellect in student life, Mr Sudhir Bhai went to Wardha Medical College to become a doctor. After the admission to MBBS was fixed, went to Acharya Vinoba Bhave’s ashram to visit him. After knowing your intention, Acharya ji said “The service you are doing to the people is more important than becoming a doctor after doing MBBS”. That’s all, leaving the dream of MBBS, you came back home and again got involved in your service work. One day suddenly seeing a leprosy patient, you got moved and since then started serving the leprosy patients. In this work, you had to face all kinds of tremendous opposition and difficulties, but Mr Sudhir Bhai continued his work and established the Leprosy Service Center in 1986. On March 13, 1987, Mother Teresa, a countrywoman who came to participate in a program, came to your ashram with new enthusiasm. Now the idea of setting up a big ashram was floating in your mind, but there was neither money nor any helper. Nevertheless, Mr Sudhir Bhai Goyal, a staunch follower of the tune, decided to move forward one step at a time. After some time, by buying land in a deserted area, far away from the city of Ujjain, by building a hut, you laid the foundation of “Sevadham”. In the beginning, by giving shelter to an old woman in Seva Dham, he started serving her and gradually this number kept on increasing. Today, hundreds of orphans, old, helpless, people suffering from various types of diseases are living very cheerful and blissful life in your ashram.
In the early days of Sudhir Bhai Goyal, the originator of Sevadham and synonymous with service, there was a lot of struggle, there was a problem with money, then Dharma’s wife sold all her jewellery one by one. A tremendous blow came when the only son died. One by one dear sister and father also died. You kept facing all these sorrows and troubles but did not get distracted even a bit from your path and kept on walking like a saint. With time, the works of Mr Sudhir Bhai Goyal became visible to all and support and cooperation started coming from the society, due to which the scope of your service has expanded a lot. Sudhir Bhai considers everyone living in Seva Dham as a part of his family and plays the role of father, brother and son for them. The pious work of marriage and daughter donation of poor, orphan girls living in Seva Dham has also started being accomplished with your help. During a mass marriage program in March 2020, 29 Divyang girls living in your ashram were donated by you, which in itself was recorded in the Golden Book of World Records (GBWR) for being a wonderful act.
Due to your amazing spiritual practice, today the biggest celebrities feel proud to come to your ashram. In your ashram, the most revered Baba Amte ji, Pujya Swami Ramdev ji and many famous Jain sages, including many famous personalities, often make their debut. Today Shri Sudhir Bhai Goyal ji is serving as an angel for the poor, helpless, sick and destitute people.
