There is a law of sixteen sacraments in Hindu religion. There is an upanayana ceremony in them. Spiritual consciousness is awakened in the child’s mind by this ritual. It is said that when the child becomes capable of acquiring knowledge, the Upanayana ceremony is performed.
This ritual has special significance since time immemorial. However, in those days the varna system was determined by the Upanayana Sanskar. It is said that when a child becomes capable of acquiring knowledge, he should first undergo the Upanayana ceremony, after which he should be sent to a school to acquire knowledge. Upanayana Sanskar is the 10th Sanskar out of 16 Sanskars, it is also called Yagyopavit or Janeu Sanskar. Up means Panas and Nayan means to take, means to take to the Guru means Upanayan Sanskar. It was highly recognized in ancient times. Talking about the present, this tradition continues even today. Even today people perform Janeu Sanskar. There are three sutras in Janeu. These three sutras are symbolic of three deities i.e. Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh. By performing this ritual, the child gets strength, energy and sharpness. Not only this, the spiritual spirit is awakened in the child.
