An artist from Chhattisgarh who has such a passion and yearning that the talent, art and heritage of his fertile soil should be done in such a way that the whole world sees it. Inspired by their military officer father Mr Lakshmi Prasad Tiwari, Mr Sunil Sunil Tiwari gave up his dream of becoming a pilot, who had received formal training from an institute in Bhopal after his student life. Mother Mrs Shakuntala Tiwari, who was a teacher, probably gave the lesson of love for art to her son along with the first sip of milk. That’s why today Mr Sunil Tiwari has become the pioneer of shaping the art and artists of Chhattisgarh and taking them to a perfect place. Since childhood, you had the personality of an artist, so you joined theatre, started giving background music, many of your albums came out and finally stepped into the field of acting.
Today you are honoured as the top actor from the land of Chhattisgarh. You have many famous films through which you have settled in the hearts of the people of Chhattisgarh. You have played the lead actor in Chhattisgarh’s famous films like Mati Ke Lal, Abbad Maya Karthon, Barry Ke Maya, Golmaal, Auto Wale Bhato, and Kaushalya. Apart from this, you have also done playback singing in 10 Chhattisgarhi films Jai Bamleshwari Maiya, Sangwari, Mahtari, Chhattisgarh Mahtari, Chandan Babu, Chakkar Guruji with very famous musicians like Khuman Sao, Bappi Lahiri, Sanjay Maithil, Dilip Shadangi, Chandrashekhar Chakor. Despite all this, there was always a feeling in your mind that Chhattisgarh is a province that is very rich in art wealth, yet it is not getting its proper place. Appropriate steps are not being taken to promote and disseminate the various types of folk arts here, due to which there is no opportunity to enhance the art and talent of the artists here.
You didn’t want to let your feelings remain dormant inside, that’s why you started making your plans blossom. You have done a lot of work to improve the folk art of Chhattisgarh and started doing tremendous work for the artists here. In this direction, in the year 2016, World Cultural Festival was organized by Sri Sri Ravi Shankar in Delhi. So you also participated there with your artists and under your able guidance, 1350 panthi dancers attracted everyone with their panthi dance and received immense praise. Similarly, in the year 2017, the Scouts and Guides Department of Chhattisgarh asked you to give your presentation in its huge program, so your wish was fulfilled. Karma folk dance was presented under the direction of this unique Kohinoor, who saw Karma as the prime form, in which 22345 school children participated and performed this amazing feat and on 30 December 2017, your program was registered in the Golden Book of World Records.
More than 100 Chhattisgarhi folk songs have been sung by you. In the opening and closing ceremony of the World Hockey Cup, five hundred artists gave a unique presentation of folk dance under your direction. In the year 2015-16, the presentation was given in the opening session of the International Film Festival and the middle, in the opening and closing ceremony of the National Youth Festival, a wonderful presentation of folk dance was also given by 500-500 artists under your able direction. You have been rewarded with hundreds of different items. In the year 1990, His Excellency the Governor of Madhya Pradesh Mr Kunwar Mehmood Ali Khan ji and in the year 1990 itself, you have been honoured with the tax lotus by His Excellency the President Mr. R. Venkataraman.
