Under the successful leadership of National President of Akhil Bharatvarshiya Maheshwari Mahila Sangathan, Mrs Asha Maheshwari and National General Secretary, Mrs Manju Bangar, the Swashrita project was taken to make women self-reliant on the occasion of International Women’s Day, March 8, 2022, through the Women’s Rights, Upliftment, Security and Empowerment Committee. On the occasion of the unprecedented success of the project, a virtual ceremony was also organized in which Chief Guest Lok Sabha Speaker Honorable Mr Om Krishna Ji Birla, President of All India Maheshwari Mahasabha Mr Shyam Sundar Ji Soni, Former Chairman Shri Rampal ji Soni, as well as Youth Organization President Shri Rajkumar ji Kalya, participated. General Secretary of Mahasabha Mr Sandeep Ji Kabra, Former National President Sisters Mrs Manorama Ji Ladda, Lata Ji Lahoti, Geeta Ji Mundra, Vimla Ji Sabu, Sushila Ji Kabra, outgoing National President Kalpana Ji Gagrani graced the program as guests of honour. In the said programme, the Sakshat Maheshwari Global Mahila Samman was also awarded to Mrs Madhu Lakhotia Sarda, a resident of Bahrain.
Dr Manish Vishnoei, Asia Head, Golden Book of World Records attended the event and announced the record from the Largest Distribution of Swing Machine title after studying the entire project database which was already sent to him. And in this way, in the twelfth season itself, the organization created a remarkable history by registering its name for the fourth golden world record.
Under this project, India and Nepal are associated with the organization as a chapter by signing an MOU with Singer India to make every woman self-dependent, that is, to make her dreams come true. There 16 tailoring training centres were opened. Under this, we had given a proposal to every state that wanted to open a centre, and the states which took the initiative to open centres and expressed their commitment to installing 6 machines, Akhil Bharatvarshiya Maheshwari Mahila Sangathan provided the support of 4 machines at the national level to each centre. The machines in all these centres belong to the All India Maheshwari Mahila Sangathan under the chain organization and the work of running them will also be ours, singer’s curriculum, certification and affiliation will be received by these centres. It will be very easy to get a job anywhere after learning work in these centres which are very suitable for learning tailoring at a very low or rather nominal fee. And it is from here that our effort to make self-reliance begins, which will truly help every woman to run her home by being her husband’s companion or in his absence, by becoming the backbone of her home.
Working on the grassroots, in addition to opening centres in their districts, tehsils or states under a chain organization, Maheshwari has taken the initiative to create self-sufficiency by giving free sewing machines to many needy women who know how to sew. We achieved the target of 525 with the excellent collective efforts of all 27 states including the Nepal chapter and in the pleasant combination of the head of the committee Mrs. Girija Sarda.
Maheshwari society is known for its service and when we all joined hands to make our sisters self-reliant, we all knew how big this project could be. It is a matter of happiness that eclipses have become allies in this project even by giving an amount of ₹ 50 and women who have contributed 50 machines are also included. We thought “Who lives for himself, what lives”, to help the families of nearly 6000 debt-ridden farmers who committed suicide in Maharashtra, widowed women and families with more daughters in Telangana, The labourers who came from neighbouring states married them and later left them there. For such unmarried mothers, 14-14 sewing machine learning centres were opened to run their homes. Not only did we dedicate these two centres to these women on behalf of our National Women’s Organization on International Women’s Day, but from that day a batch of 40 women also started at both centres. Fans, water tanks, stools to sit on, scissors, sewing kits, cloth etc. were also given at these centres by the national organization. The responsibility of running these two centres has been entrusted to the minister of Yavatmal, Mrs Neelima.
The national leadership of Akhil Bharatvarshiya Maheshwari Mahila Sangathan National President Mrs Asha Maheshwari, National General Secretary Mrs Manju Bangar, National Treasurer Mrs Jyoti Rathi, National Organization Minister Mrs Shaila Kalantri, National Office Minister Mrs Madhu Baheti as well as Project Head for Swashrita Project Mrs Girija Sarada, women’s rights upliftment security and empowerment committee in-charge Mrs Usha Mohanta, along with committee co-in charge Swati Kabra, Rajshree Mohta, Kanchan Rathi, Pratibha Nathani and Rashmi Binani played an important role in completing this project.
