You were engaged in developing such a technique by which a plant can be prepared from 1 litre of water and you also got success in it. Mr Sundaram ji, a resident of Sikar, Rajasthan, succeeded in discovering the technique of preparing saplings from 1 litre of water and the water conservation department of the Government of Rajasthan recognized your technique. World-renowned agricultural scientist, the most respected Dr MS Swaminathan, the father of the Green Revolution in India, was also very pleased to know your speciality and praised you a lot. Yes, it is a different matter that you had to do 10 years of hard meditation to develop this technique.
Mr Sundaram Verma, a resident of Data village of Dantaramgarh sub-division in Sikar district of Rajasthan, has done extensive study by collecting about 700 species of 15 crops including chilli, guar, coriander, Kabuli chana, fenugreek. And keep teaching the farmers the virtues of producing good crops with less water and less cost. The Indian Agricultural Research Institute has also examined and recognized the work of Shri Sundaram ji.
For almost three decades, you have been involved in simplifying agricultural work and using innovation in it. You also follow the ideal crop rotation and keep making the farmers aware to follow it. You grow three crops in one field in a year and you get a lot of profit from one hectare. You have also been awarded many awards from time to time. In the year 1997, you were awarded the Agro Biodiversity Award in Canada. In the year 1998, he received the Babu Jagjivan Ram Abhinav Kisan Puraskar at the national level. You were awarded the Van Pandit Award by the State Government. India’s first agricultural university Govind Ballabh Pant University of Agriculture and Technology has also honoured you. Progressive farmer Sundaram Verma has so far won a total of 16 state and national level awards. Apart from India, Sundaram has also written 11 research papers in America and Europe. A bank of indigenous varieties has also been prepared based on agricultural biodiversity.
Given your incredible services towards the country, the Government of India honoured you with the Padma Shri award in 2020.
