What can be a better example of the success of women on the global stage for India in the art world than this, Dr Chitralekha Singh is the first woman in the world who has received a degree of delete in the subject of painting. Dr Chitralekha Singh ji has established more than one new dimension in the field of art. She started her career as a lecturer in painting at Agra University, then became a professor and head of the department. Later on, you laid the foundation of many institutions and remained associated with them from their inception to upgradation. You have been a research associate of the University Grants Commission, and you have been the founder and director of the Institute of Fine Arts. You have also beautified the post of Dean of the Faculty of Arts in Mangalayan University and Chittorgarh University is still under your Guru’s shadow. Under your able guidance, more than 5 dozen students have obtained PhD and about 200 students have obtained MPhil degrees. You have also written more than 3 dozen books. Exhibitions of your paintings are held in most of the countries of the world. Chitralekha is still engaged in her penance with full enthusiasm through The Village of Art at Agra. Born on the 20th of June in the year 1945, Chitralekha Singh ji studied up to fifth standard in Bathinda and later on from six and seven mission schools. Education from high school to intermediate was done in PG Girls College Agra, it was the same college where Chitralekha ji’s paintings started getting wings. Although you had started leaving your mark in making paintings since childhood, but on reaching PG Jain Girls College, the fragrance of your qualities started increasing rapidly. In childhood, whoever saw the pictures made by your delicate fingers, used to stare mesmerized. When a picture of a burning pyre was made by you, seeing it, many art scholars praised it with a free voice. You have done graduation and post graduation with painting subject. In your life such a charismatic personality named Rameshwar Prasad Shukla ji enters and said to your parents you give this daughter to me, I want to take this daughter into the field of art. Because the parents used to encourage their daughter a lot from the beginning and did not make any difference between son and daughter, so they happily agreed to listen to Gurudev Rameshwar Prasad Shukla ji. Later on, you proved the selection of your Guru to be 100% correct.
