Teacher’s Day-

India celebrates the birthday of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, the former President of India, every year on 5th September as Teacher’s Day. In some countries of the world, Teacher’s Day is organized to pay special respect to teachers. Some countries have a holiday while some countries celebrate this day while working. Former President of India Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan’s birthday is celebrated as Teacher’s Day in India. The responsibility of a teacher is immense. Because he not only has to do the intellectual, moral, psychological, and physical development of the children, but it is also the duty of the teacher to do social, character, and emotional development. Along with the curriculum, life values are also taught by the teachers from the very beginning. Education gives us knowledge, humility, tact, and ability. A teacher is considered like God. Even today many teachers are playing an important role in establishing an ideal human society by following the ideals of teaching.

Some of the qualities of a good teacher include communication skills, listening, collaboration, adaptability, empathy, and patience. Other characteristics of effective teaching include an engaging classroom presence, value in real-world learning, sharing of best practices, and a lifelong love of learning. Guru-shishya parampara is an important and sacred part of Indian culture. No one can ever take the place of parents in life, because they are the ones who bring us into this colorful beautiful world. It is said that our parents are the first teachers in life. In India, the tradition of Guru and teacher has been going on since ancient times, but only teachers teach us the real way of living. Inspires you to walk on the right path. ‘Guru’ has a lot of importance in everyone’s life, he also has his own special place in society. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan believed a lot in education. He was a great philosopher and teacher. He had a deep love for teaching. All the qualities of an ideal teacher were present in him. On this day, awards are also given to the best teachers by the Government of India all over the country. Guru-disciple tradition is an important and sacred part of Indian culture, many golden examples of which are recorded in history. A teacher is like a gardener who decorates a garden with flowers of different colors. Which inspires the students to walk smiling even on thorns. Today, many government efforts are being made to take education to every household. Teachers should also get the respect they deserve. Only a Guru builds good character in a disciple. Today all the teachers have started bidding for their knowledge. If seen in the present perspective, the tradition of Guru-Shishya is getting tarnished somewhere. One gets to hear news of teachers misbehaving with students and students misbehaving with teachers every day.

Seeing this, a question mark starts appearing on this invaluable teacher-disciple tradition of our culture. It is the responsibility of both students and teachers to better understand this great tradition and contribute in building a good society.

The place of a teacher is like that of God.

।। गुरुर ब्रह्मा गुरुर विष्णु, गुरुर देवो महेश्वरः ।।
।। गुरुर साक्षात परब्रह्म:, तस्मै श्री गुरुवे नमः ।।

It means: Guru is like Brahma, Guru is like Vishnu, Guru is like Maheshwar i.e. Shiva. Guru is like Parabrahma, the best of all goddesses, we bow down to such a Guru.

According to Dr. Radhakrishnan – “Teacher has a very important place in society. He is like the spindle that transmits intellectual traditions and technical abilities from one generation to another and keeps the flame of civilization burning.” The characteristics of a good teacher are as follows-
