The relationship between India and Yoga is thousands of years old. This relationship is as old as Indian culture, the sages of India have been using yoga and meditation for physical, mental and spiritual benefits since ancient times. Yoga first originated in India, after which it became popular in other countries around the world. Along with boosting the energy level in the body, the mind can also be calmed through the practice of yoga. In such a situation, it can be said that regular practice of yoga asanas is very important to increase the quality of life. Yoga is such a need of the human body that fulfilling it has many benefits. Yoga is directly related to the health of the human body. Yoga connects us with nature and keeps us healthy.
Chhattisgarh Yoga Commission, to make people aware of the importance of yoga and motivate them to live a healthy life, organized a mass practice of Bridge Pose Yoga at the Late Balbir Singh Juneja Indoor Stadium in the state capital Raipur. Men and women from all communities including Hindu, Muslim, Sikh, and Christian participated in this program organized by the Chhattisgarh Yoga Commission. Yoga practitioners ranging in age from six years to seventy years took part in this group yoga practice programme. Not only from Raipur but people from all over the state participated in this program, during which people made a chain in three layers of the tricolour and did yoga exercises, which looked amazing. Setubandh Asana was demonstrated together by all the people present in the program. It was recorded in the Golden Book of World Records as a world record for the maximum number of people doing Setubandha Asana in one place. While announcing the world record, Dr Manish Vishwanoi, Asia Head of the Golden Book of World Records, who was specially present in the program, presented a certificate of world record with the title of “Most People Performing Setu Bandhasana Yoga” to Chhattisgarh Yoga Commission Chairman Shri Gyanesh Sharma. After the announcement of the world record, Mr Gyanesh Sharma said, “Today is a big day for Chhattisgarh. Today, a world record has been made for Setubandha Asana in which 1,100 yoga practitioners have registered their names in the Golden Book of World Records by performing Setubandha Asana. We aim to inspire people to do yoga so that they can include it in their daily routine. We are trying to create public awareness among the people through such events” and also said “Chief Minister Shri Bhupesh Baghel ji has entrusted me with the important responsibility of Chhattisgarh Yoga Commission, keeping people’s health as a priority. To fulfil this, the Commission has started about 50 regular free yoga practice centres in the state. Yoga is being propagated from village to village by providing training to yoga practitioners of all divisions.
Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, Mr Bhupesh Baghel, while sending his congratulations and best wishes to the citizens on this special achievement, said: “As long as Chhattisgarh does yoga, it will remain healthy. Setubandh Asana connects the mind and body under the bridge”. AICC National Secretary Mr. Vikas Upadhyay, present in the program, while giving his best wishes said that “Yoga keeps the body, mind and wealth safe. As per the wish of Chief Minister Shri Bhupesh Baghel ji, giving priority to the health of common citizens, free yoga centres have been opened in more than 90 per cent of wards of his assembly constituency. Encouraging the yoga practitioners and trainers who participated in the program, State Women Commission Chairperson Dr Kiranmayi Nayak said, “All the yoga practitioners should teach yoga to 10 people each. Next year, a large number of people will once again create all the records.”
In this group yoga practice program, along with Setubandha Asana, other asanas, pranayam and meditation were also practised. In the program, Dr. M.L. Pandey ji (Secretary, Chhattisgarh Yoga Commission), Shri Pradeep Sharma ji (Adviser, Chief Minister Chhattisgarh), Shri Ajaz Dhebar ji (Mayor, Raipur), Shri Ratanlal Dangi ji (IG), Shri Kuldeep Juneja ji (Chairman) , Chhattisgarh Housing Board), Mr. Sushil Sunny Agarwal ji (President, Chhattisgarh Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board), Dr. Suresh Sharma ji (President, Sanskrit Vidyamandalam), Mrs. Chitrarekha Sahu ji (Vice President, Chhattisgarh Tourism Board), Mr Satnam Panag ji (Member, MIC), Chhattisgarh Yoga Commission members Shri Rajesh Nara ji, Shri Ravindra Singh ji and Shri Ganeshnath Yogi ji, Yoga instructor Shri Chhabiram Sahu ji, Mrs Jyoti ji along with Brahma Kumari Savita Didi, devotees of Prajapita Brahma Kumari Ishwariya Vishwavidyalaya, yoga instructors and a large number of yoga practitioners were present.
