Mr Harichandra Garg, 70 years old, a resident of Faridabad, who grows a 7 feet 2-inch marigold plant and a 7 feet 5-inch Tulsi plant in his home’s flower garden, on one hand, does such intense meditation of nature, and on the other hand, it is difficult in this age. Yoga also surprises everyone with Kriyas. The age at which a person walks carefully, this age you can carry a bamboo 25 feet high and weighing 40 kg in your palm. All this is possible only for Mr Harichandra Garg ji whereas normally people of this age can do the work of their needs only.

Born on 02 January 1950 in the small village Aurangabad-Mitraul (Tehsil Hodal, District Palwal) in the lap of father Mr Lala Srichand and mother Mrs Kiran Devi, Mr Hari Chandra Garg was very hard working since childhood. When you were studying in class 6, your father got disabled in an accident, at that time family circumstances made you prematurely responsible. You started working in the Public Works Department in the year 1973 after high school, but you were not interested in the job. That’s why left the job after 1 year and started doing contract work in the same department, which you did till 2015.

When World Yoga Day was celebrated for the first time in the country under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, one lakh twenty thousand people participated in it in Faridabad also. Many world records of yoga were also made during that time, seeing which you also got a craving for yoga and started doing yoga. Your blossoming family and lush gardens were noticed when your life partner Madhubala Ji had to remain bedridden for a year after an accident. Together with you, both the sons and daughters-in-law Priya Rani and Meenakshi Garg took up the full responsibility of their service to Sushrusha, truth be told, both the daughter-in-laws fulfilled their duty by always being ready to serve their mother-in-law. Whenever Madhubala ji felt lonely, you sat beside her and started doing Kapalbhati Yoga for hours in front of her. At that time you were 67 years old, still serving your wife and doing yoga for hours was your main routine. Madhubala ji was also very hardworking, she showered a lot of love on her family, the biggest thing was that a day before she left this world, she also went to vote.

Garg Ji’s routine starts with yoga, he wakes up early in the morning and does yoga for 2 hours, and after that, he does gardening work for 2 to 3 hours. For this, you cleaned the garbage dump near your house and planted many useful plants like Tulsi, Aloe vera, Giloy, Amla, Marigold, Hibiscus etc. in it. After this, in the remaining time, you engage in the service of society and the needy and also encourage people for yoga, you have made the prisoners in jail do yoga for a long time. One day a thought came into your mind why not register a world record for doing yoga for a long time? For this, you contacted the office of the Golden Book of World Records. Where you were told that if you do Kapalbhati for more than 60 minutes at this age, then your record can be registered. You accepted this challenge and surprised everyone by doing Kapalbhati for 1 hour 7 minutes 4 seconds on 23rd March 2017 and your name got written in golden letters in the Golden Book of World Records with the title of “longest performance of Kapalbhati pranayam yoga”. On 23 December 2017, you again registered your name in the Golden Book of World Records with the title of “Longest performance of Uttith Padmasana yoga”. Continuing your yoga practice, on 24 May 2018, you once again created a world record by doing the “Longest performance of Garbhasana yoga”. And on July 18, 2018, by making the “Longest performance of Matsya padmasan yoga” record again, registered his name in the Golden Book of World Records.

Making a world record is not in the hands of elders, where people are not able to make even a world record in their whole life, it is a game of left hand for hardworking and hard working Karmayogi like Mr Harichandra Garg ji. In fact, behind this is their years of practice. You are an exclusive worshiper of nature as well, because of this quality, there is a 7 feet 2 inches tall marigold plant in your hard-earned garden. Which has been recorded in the Golden Book of World Records on 15 March 2018 as the world’s tallest marigold plant. Similarly, on December 23, 2019, a 7 feet 5 inch Tulsi plant, which is the beauty of your garden, was also registered in GBWR as the longest basil plant. So far, you have 6 world records registered in your name, which is an example in itself as well as a source of inspiration for others. Due to these extraordinary achievements of yours, you are often honoured with various honours and you are counted as a highly respected personality in the whole of Haryana. Schoolchildren should be inspired by such personalities in the promotion of yoga. So that he can know the importance of yoga and also understand that by doing yoga, a person can remain completely healthy even at the age of 70, only then in the true sense, our Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s dreams of a healthy India and prosperous India can be made.
