Any citizen of the country who is 18 years of age or above can register himself to vote and participate in the electoral process by exercising the right to vote. According to the Indian Constitution, the Election Commission has the right to conduct regular, free and fair elections in the country. All matters related to conducting elections and post-election disputes have been included under the Representation of the People Act 1950 and the Representation of the People Act 1951. Voter oath has played a very important role in the development of Indian democracy. This oath not only addresses the leaders and public representatives towards the values ​​and policies of democracy, but it also gives a sense of shared responsibility to the citizens and makes them active participants in their democracy.

Under the aegis of the district administration, Bilaspur Smart City Limited organized a program called “Sweep Music Fest – A Confluence of Democracy and Music” at Guru Ghasidas Central University. Thousands of students and villagers from nearby areas participated in the program. Organized under the Voter Awareness Campaign Sweep, being run under the guidance of District Election Officer and Collector Mr. Awanish Kumar Sharan (IAS), people were encouraged to exercise their franchise and participate in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in large numbers. Apart from this, under the Voter Awareness Campaign Sweep, a QR code was issued by the District Election Bilaspur to take an online pledge to vote from home. Through this a total of 5 lakh 1 thousand 952 voters pledged to vote, which was recorded as a world record in the Golden Book of World Records with the title of “Largest Online Campaign for Casting Vote”. The certificate of the world record was presented by the representative of Golden Book of World Records, Mrs. Sonal Rajesh Sharma (GBWR) to the District Election Officer and Collector, Mr. Awanish Sharan in the presence of distinguished officials during the program “Sweep Music Fest – Confluence of Democracy and Music”.

During the program “Sweep Music Fest – A confluence of democracy and music” organized at Central University, District Election Officer and Collector Shri Avnish Sharan ji administered oath to the people present to exercise their franchise in maximum numbers for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections and the Collector also appealed to the citizens to fulfil the motto “100% voting, pride of Bilaspur”. Saavan Musical Band, which came specially from Raipur to perform in this cultural evening, captivated the hearts of the citizens. The citizens kept dancing till late evening to patriotic and various types of songs. On this occasion, Corporation Commissioner Shri Amit Kumar ji, District Panchayat CEO Shri RP Chauhan ji, Acting Vice Chancellor Shri Amit Saxena ji, Registrar Shri Abhay Randive ji, Additional Commissioner of Corporation Shri Khajanchi Kumhar ji, officers, employees of Corporation and District Administration and a large number of citizens were present.
