The definition of yoga is different in our scriptures but it is directly related to the health of the human body. Yoga connects us with nature. Yoga is such a need of the human body that fulfilling it has thousands of benefits. The history of yoga in India is thousands of years old. The entire life of our sages and saints has been full of yoga. The tradition of yoga in India is as old as Indian culture. People have been practising it since ancient times in the form of mental, physical and spiritual. Yoga originated first in India, after which it became popular in other countries of the world. Yoga has inspired the whole world to stay healthy. Many yogis of modern India have played an important role in taking yoga to where it is today. One of the yogis who took this tradition of yoga forward is also the name of the popular saint of Siddhapeeth Shri Hanumangarhi Basantiya Patti Ayodhya, Hathayogi Mahesh Das alias Swami Mahesh Yogi. At present, Swami Mahesh Yogi Ji has been serving the nation in the field of yoga and spirituality as a servant of Shri Hanuman Ji at Ayodhya Siddhapeeth Shri Hanumangarhi for almost two decades. To promote yoga and spirituality, he has also established his Divya Bharat Nirman Trust and Bharat Yoga Association Trust, which are providing their services all over India today.

Yoga guru Swami Mahesh Yogi Ji, famous for Hatha Yoga and difficult yoga practice, has taken a firm resolve to do 1 crore 51 lakh strokes of Kapalbhati by giving up food for 6 months continuously in Ayodhya Hanumangarhi, for which he is still moving forward. Swami Mahesh Yogi Ji started this rigorous yoga practice at Hanumangarhi Nij Ashram on 2 April 2024. Since then, by giving up food, he has been engaged in the rigorous practice of Kapalbhati Pranayama for 11 hours every day. He has set a target of doing one lakh strokes of Kapalbhati in 11 hours every day. Swami Mahesh Yogi Ji has already increased the pride of India on the world stage by creating many world records in the field of yoga, art, literature and spirituality. The world records created by him include the world record of doing a yoga marathon for 76 hours continuously, the world record of doing Kapalbhati for 51 hours continuously, the world record of doing Surya Namaskar 21 times in 1 minute, the world record of doing Kapalbhati in Shirshasana for 1 hour and 15 minutes, world record of taking 2378 continuous dips in the lap of Mother Saryu in Ayodhya, world record of creating the world’s largest person portrait series in the field of painting, record of creating 11000 paintings till date and many such special records like writing Divya Bharat Gaurav Granth and Bharat Rishi Gyan Encyclopedia are registered in the Golden Book of World Records. Apart from this, more than 100 world records have also been set by the disciples of Swami Mahesh Yogi ji under the aegis of Divya Bharat Nirman Trust.

Swami Mahesh Yogi has received MA, MPhil and PhD degrees seven times in the field of education. Apart from this, Mahesh Yogi has served as a lecturer, assistant professor and director in various schools and universities and has also written 32 books on yoga, art and literature. The government has changed the name of his native village to (Mahesh Yogi Nagar).
