The International Society for Krishna Consciousness – ISKCON is a Vedic religious organization that provides religious and spiritual education to people in the country and the world through Krishna devotion. The main objective of the organization is to encourage reverence and love for Lord Shri Krishna and to guide people towards spiritual life through Vedic religion, devotion and spirituality. ISKCON followers follow the basic elements of Vaishnavism, including worship of Lord Krishna, study of Bhagavad Gita, kirtan (singing of the glory of God’s name), and worship of Lord Krishna.
The founder of ISKCON was a prominent spiritual master and prominent propagator of Bhakti Yoga named Abhay Charanavinda Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, also known as “Swami Srila Bhaktivedanta Prabhupada”. Swami Prabhupada Ji was born on September 1, 1896, and founded ISKCON in New York City in 1966. Swami Prabhupada gave the message of applying the teachings of the Bhagavad Gita in spiritual life and propagated the main principles of Vedic religion. He founded ISKCON as a spiritual institution whose objective was to promote devotion and knowledge of Lord Krishna. Swami Prabhupada’s work was very important, and he spread devotion to Krishna throughout the world and explained the deeper meanings of the Bhagavad Gita. His efforts played an important role in increasing people’s awareness towards spirituality and Vedic religion. Furthermore, he established various temples around the world and established Vrindavan and Mayapur as the most sacred sites for devotees. Swami Prabhupada’s contribution is still alive in the ISKCON organization and his ideology is extremely popular among people in spiritual life.
The ‘108 Gopal Mahabhishek’ program was specially organized by ISKON Preaching Centre, Sunder Nagar, Raipur, a subsidiary organization of the International Krishna Consciousness Association. In this Mahabhishek program organized under the guidance of Shri Tamal Krishna Das Prabhu Ji, Director of Chhattisgarh ISKCON Youth, 108 Gopals were anointed by the devotees with Panchamrit, Ganga water, water from 108 ponds, five types of fruit juices, milk, ghee, honey and perfume etc. A world record was set by ISKCON Preaching Center Raipur by consecrating the maximum number of idols of Shri Krishna in one place. Which was recorded in the Golden Book of World Records with the title of “Largest Krishna Idol Abhishek Ceremony”. The certificate of World Record achievement was felicitated by Dr. Manish Vishnoei, Asia Head, GBWR, present in the program.
After the Mahabhishek in the presence of Siddharth Swami Maharaj, 501 types of special offerings were offered to Lord Shri Krishna, after which a grand aarti with 108 lamps was organized followed by a grand kirtan. This special program of dance of devotees was concluded in Kirtan. Shri Ved Vyas Das, Bhakta Vatsalya Das, Dayanidhi Das, Sankirtan Chetanya Das, Rohit Krishna Das, Chandra Kumar Sahu, Krishna Sakhi Radhika Devidasi, Anita Devidasi, Richa Devidasi and other devotees congratulated Shri Tamal Krishna Das Prabhu Ji on getting the name of this event organized on the auspicious occasion of Shri Krishna Janmashtami inscribed in golden letters in the Golden Book of World Records.
